Today felt quite different as our first on the TransAmerica Bike Route
which is heavily traveled. We started seeing other cyclists, bike
route signs to show the way, and even got a free piece of pie! (A
restaurant in Goreville, Illinois is run by someone who loves to talk
to cyclists, take a picture to post, and give out free pie) Also met
Uncle Charley who says "hi" to his nephew who runs the computer store
in Madras! Big fun. Otherwise it was very windy with lots of cross-
winds which slowed me down and I had a flat tire early in the day. I
had no problem changing the tire and getting back on the road without
Bill's help since he was back in camp packing up. We are camped in a
great spot tonight, dense shade, swimable lake, lots of singing birds,
and pleasant scenery. And we have our new fan so now Cramalot is a
wind cave which is a great improvement. Should sleep good tonight. I
felt the day off today, it was a little hard to get going again, but
now I'm ready to roll---tomorrow will cross the Mississippi River into
Missouri. Sally
