It poured last night - hard and straight down. Then this morning wind,
thunder and lightening were added to the mix. But we were snug in
Cramalot with very little leakage. Wally successfully broke down the
wall of stuff I had set up in the car to keep him and his hair out of
the front seats .... I think I am going to let him win that battle
because he has been so well behaved otherwise. It is now 7:30 am EDT
and we have had our morning mush and coffee. The rain has let up but
there are still dark clouds around. We arrived at Inez's home in
Amesville, OH at 2 p.m. after a 6 hour drive. Amesville had flooded
about 10 years ago with a 500 year flood caused by a 10 inch deluge
over a few hours. The water was 15 feet up the side of the post office
in the downtown area. Inez gave us a tour of her town and later cooked
us a great dinner. She is a hoot with a very infectious laugh. Inez's
daughter Gretchen provided us with home grown wine for dinner which
was delicious. The rain has continued off and on all day. Tomorrow the
weather is supposed to improve so Sally & I plan to do some cycling
around the nearby college town of Athens, Ohio. Gas prices have been
the highest we have seen on the trip in Indiana and Ohio - in the area
of $3.80 / gallon .... but maybe gas prices have been going up
nationwide - we don't know as we haven't been keeping up with the news.
