Short driving day in good weather. After arriving in downtown Custer,
we decided to camp in the state park and do some cycling. We did a
glorious ride in rolling grassy hills amongst the buffalo and
antelope. Our ride was on a wildlife loop but we had to cut it short
due to threatening thunderstorms. It did rain a few times lightly.
Because the return trip was 10 miles of steep climbing, we decided to
try an unpaved path through the woods back to camp that was only 3 miles. That would have
worked as the riding was ok but the path was along a stream which we
had to cross 16 times. We got across all of them without getting too
wet. A great adventure. In camp we saw white lots of white tail deer
and wild turkeys. We have no wireless or phone service at this camp so
once again, this report will have to wait for later for transmission.
