Bill:
Another thunderstorm last night. Sally is getting so used to them she
woke up for a minute and went back to sleep. The weather calmed down
around 11 and was reasonably peaceful for the rest of the evening. We
thought we were going to miss them altogether ... a really dark one
went by us to the north, then another to the south. Then we went to
bed and a little while later, whammo, we got hit ... but Cramalot did
fine and we had no leaks. A pretty standard morning ... oatmeal, ride
out , ride back, break camp, chase Sally. The morning was cool, about
59 degrees but now it has warmed up to the mid 80's. We had planned a
short day as this is our 8th day with no day off but since there are
no nice campgrounds, we don't want to take a day off until we find
one. We are on our 5th night with no hookups and the battery on the
trailer is hanging in there - we use it for water pump, lights,
charging phones and computers, and 1 or 2 fans at night. We use at
least 1 fan every night whether it is warm or not to drown out local
noise. Works great. Today we were looking forward to having a snack at
a restaurant in Sugar City that Sheri (the cyclist we met a few days
ago) highly recommended, but it was closed on Saturday so we had a
snack in their nice park instead. Then on the way out of town I
noticed a lake in the distance and checked it out. It turned out to be
the local reservoir and they allow free camping and have an outhouse
so here we are, camped under the only tree in the area. The day has
been really nice, a gentle breeze, mid 80's, We have had a nice lazy
afternoon watching the boaters and pelicans and at least one of us
went swimming - me. Sally chose instead to get some sun (!) and catch
up on her diary. We may have found out why others haven't camped under
this tree ... it is raining flying ants. They seem to be doing battle
with each other, fall out the tree in a clump, battle a bit more, and
then fly back up and repeat the process.

Did any of those flying ants get inside Cramolot? Did Wally stay away from them?
Eight days of solid riding is heck alot! And on top that, Sally not swimming! Bill did you check her temperature to see if she's feeling well? Ride safe Bill and Sally.
