Bill:
We were really hungry last night so we found a restaurant in town and
had huge, yummy steaks. It came with a salad bar and large potato .
Sally ate every bit of hers but I couldn't finish. Later, Sally also
had ice cream at the dairy cream across the street. She said she
didn't even feel full. Good thing she ate all that food as she did
another century today ... the longest to date by 1/3 of a mile. She
also averaged 14.6 mph doing this century. We got going early and
gained an hour today as we rode into a new time zone just before we
road into the state of Colorado. I think Sally is tired of flat and
straight ... we have one or 2 more days of it and then we reach Pueblo
and the scenery should start to change. I also rode quite a bit today
- rode out and back a total of 40 miles and then rode back to meet
Sally from Eads. We lucked out with the weather with it being cool in
the a.m. but it did heat up quite a bit during the day. However for
the last 30 miles or so it cooled down considerably because of nearby
thunderstorms. We didn't get rained on at all today but now there are
severe thunderstorm watches out for this evening. Ah, well, we are
used to it and have a shelter (aka bathroom) all picked out). Could be
crowded in there, tho as there is another riding group in town ...
just 2 riders but with wives and kids, they total 8. They are from
Utah, but are riding eastbound from San Francisco across the country
on the TransAmerica Bike Trail.
Sally:
I was actually cold this morning. Temp was 57 when we started riding.
Today was a bit of a grind, rough roads and it just kept going and
going. Terrain not too interesting, it looks drier and more desolate
here. Also had to put up with bad feedlot smells most of the morning.
So it wasn't my favorite day, but we are in a nice little city park.
Planning to eat out again and should get a good nights rest.

As much riding as you guys are doing I'm surprised you are not eating more meals liked you just discribed. It seems like I can on the couch all day and still eat steak and potatoes for dinner. Sally when you can ride 105 miles and call it boring you have just evolved to another level.
Hear is the good news for you Bill, when you hit the mountains and ride the first 20 or so miles with Sally you can coast back to Cramalot and of course to Wally! Ride safe Bill and Sally!
