Sally:
Today was humid and hot from the get-go. It was a bit of a struggle to
make it to camp. But we are right next to a lake with lots of trees
and a nice breeze. And of course a shower changes everything. We were
passing through "Land Between the Lakes" (a National Recreation Area)
most of the day. I decided it should be called "Land Between the
Cemeteries". I didn't see a lake all day, but every few miles there
was another sign to a cemetery! I didn't go to one so can't tell you
why they are all marked. In general there have been lots of little
cemeteries all along our route, most of the churches have a cemetery
right next to them, complete with big headstones. Finished off
Tennessee today and now are in Kentucky. We have only one more day of
riding on the Underground Railroad Route. Tomorrow we will take a
ferry across the Ohio River and camp in Illinois. We will take
Saturday off and Sunday start on the Transamerica Route finally
heading West!

Bill:
I didn't ride as far today as the first part of the route was very
hilly. (I am a Jimmy not a Subaru, remember?) Then after breaking
camp, I headed to our rendezvous point about 40 miles up the road. I
used the TomTom navigator to get me there and it routed me all over
the place on lots of gravel roads ... was supposed to be via the
quickest route but Sally beat me there by a half hour - some sag
driver , eh? While there are a lot of cemeteries in the LBTL and you
don't ever see the lakes from the main road, they are definitely there
and they are huge. On the west side is the Kentucky Lake where we are
camped and on the east side is Lake Barkley. The weatherman was right
- it was very hot again. It was 78 when we started at 5:30 this
morning and was 91 in the shade in camp. Sally just informed me that
she met someone on her ride today that said the temps have been about
10 degrees hotter than normal for this time of year ... yipes!
