Hi Temp - not recorded but hot
Once again, we were served breakfast at our host's home before we
left. Peg sagged for us this one last day as we had decided to keep
going on the route instead of going to Jim & Judy's place on Lake
Mystic. (more on that in a moment). So, Sally & I rode 22 miles
together and then I drove Peg back to the Perry's home and took off
after Sally in Cramalot. I hooked up with her and we decided to camp
at a large campground in Marianna, FL. We got there fairly early
(around 1 pm CDT - yes we crossed our first time zone going west
today). We hadn't realized it when we selected the campground but this
place had a pool. It was wonderful as it was extremely hot and humid
and still in camp. We swam, planned the next day, swam again, ate then
swam again. This campground is on a small lake with some weird fish -
they are very big - some as big as 3 feet and you can see their fins
and tails sticking out of the water from time to time. I found out
later that they were grass carp and that the lake was stocked with
them by Fish & Game dept. They cannot reproduce so I guess they are
being used to control some non native plant life. Anyway, this was the
hottest sleeping night yet but we had electricity and had 2 fans
going. During our planning for the next few days, we discovered that
we could night find any campsites along the route because they were
all full for Memorial Day weekend. So, tomorrow, Sally will ride about
15 miles past DeFuniak Springs and then we will drive to Jim & Judy
Perry's lake home on Lake Mystic and take a few days off.

Sally and Bill,
It sure is fun living vicariously through your blog! If it would still work out, I would enjoy meeting up with you possibly in the Colorado area for some trekking. This is highly dependent on all schedules magically aligning however as you get closer and have a potential date, we should talk. Take care and watch out for fire ants! Tim
