Hi Temp - not recorded but hot and humid
Woke before the sun came up this a.m. as we hit the sack early last
night. It was so hot and humid, but discovered Bill's camelback water
bladder is a perfect cold water pack to cool you down. That and the
fans made it possible to fall asleep. Anyway we got a good start, were
riding at 6:30 local time (moved over a time zone), which felt great.
Bill turned back at 13.5 miles to retrieve Cramalot and Wally. I kept
riding, first cool then got really humid and hot. Found a super rest
spot in DeFuniak Springs, a town which has a little lake with a park
around it. Took a snooze on the park bench waiting for Bill. He
arrived with a ice-cold drink, yum. I left him sitting in the park
with the computer as he found he could get on the internet there. I
rode another 14 miles. The most exciting thing i saw all day was a
very PO'd venomous- looking snake at the side of the road. I didn't
stop for a picture (sorry, Dan) but he was kinda scary with his mouth
wide open. Probably 18 inches long and very stout. The ride was along
a fairly busy road all day, but most of it had a good shoulder. Best
part was the "Simply Good Country Cooking" cafe we found at the end of
the ride. We've taken it upon ourselves to do a taste-test of Southern
BBQ as we proceed. This was really good. Then we had a too-long car
ride backwards to Lake Mystic where we are spending two nights and
days. Yesterday afternoon we finally sat down to plan and discovered
that all campgrounds in Western Florida had been booked for a month
and we had no where to go. (Bill said "We're in a pickle") Luckily
Peg's friends offered their lake home and WOW is it ever gorgeous. The
lake is perfect swimming, has a white beach and is so peaceful. Once
again what seemed like a problem turns out to be a blessing. We're
going to have Peg, Donnie, Jim, Judy and 2 of their friends from Miami
here tomorrow for visiting, fun and food and will be ready to hit the
road again after the Holiday weekend. What a time we're having!!
Bill here... as you can probably tell, Sally wrote up the trip today.
It flows much better, don't you think? I vote that she do the write-
ups every day ;-) Whaddya think?

Yep, Sally you did do nice write up! Not that Bill does not write well, but you just had a different voice. What is a PO'd snake?
Once again Sally you found the swimming hole. I like it when you talk about the wide sholder that way you can ride safely Sally.
Ed
Jerry guessed that PO'd snake was probably a BAD-MAD cottonmouth... today we picked blackberries that Jerry found in his 4-wheeling field when we stopped by... we are home now & wondering how far you rode today... guess we have to wait for the next wireless house you find! I am already missing sagging w/Wally! Love, Peggy
